One of the hallmarks of living in the 21st Century’s global village is that one’s neighbors are from other cultures, traditions, and places in the world. As a result of unprecedented mobility and migration, myriad ethnic, cultural and religious communities now live side-by-side in virtually every metropolitan center around the world.

Depending on ones point of view, this inescapable reality can be a cause for wonder, a wellspring of enrichment, and an opportunity to further understanding and cooperation, or it can be a threat to personal and communal identity and a source of mistrust and strife. Indeed for some, this ‘world of difference’ is a problem to be solved through segregation, forms of social and cultural hegemony, and even ethnic and religious cleansing. These kinds of “solutions” – all too often enacted in the name of religion and spirituality – have left a brutal and inhumane legacy of misunderstanding, hatred and violence.

Therefore, to overcome the misunderstandings, it is imperative that positive material be made available for people to understand each other. This is necessary to narrow the gap between people in world societies and religions: the prime objective of inter-faith efforts around the world.

Understanding this, CPS and its global partners undertake Inter Faith Efforts directly or through our affiliate organizations to reveal the true face of Islam based on peace and spirituality in the modern idiom. The aim of the exercise is:

• To undertake Inter Faith Dialogue to promote harmony among global citizens with the aim of fostering mutual respect and understanding for other groups.
• To undertake and encourage activities which promote belief in the principles of non-violence and peace in resolving disputes between different religious and other groups in society.
• To provide a platform for people to explore different religion as the true source of peace and harmony and interfaith dialogue.
• To distribute positive Inter Faith material to promote a culture of mutual understanding and respect.
