Islam is a religion of peace in the fullest sense of the world. However, due to the actions of a few people, Islam is being considered as a religion of violence and misconceptions have ensued.  People the world over are asking themselves questions such as, Does Islam Sanction Violence? What is Jihad?  Does Jihad permit the use of arms against non-combatants? Why are Muslims so backward and uneducated? What is the position of women in Islam? Does Islam propagate polygamy?  What is the true face of Islam? etc.

Maulana Wahiduddin Khan believes that, today, Islam is considered a religion of violence due to the fact that information about the religion is being derived from the deeds of Muslims rather than the original Islamic Scriptures. This gives rise to misconceptions about Islam. He explains that to find the true face of Islam, you have to draw on the text of its original sources – the Quran, the word of God and the Sunnah, the actions and words of Prophet Muhammad – rather than judging it by the later day interpretations and commentaries of the Quran and Sunnah or the practices of present day Muslims in different parts of the world. Using the scientific approach, a distinction has to be made between Islam as presented by the Prophet Muhammad and his companions (information about which is available to us in the Scriptures - Qur’an and the Sunnah) and Islam as represented by the deeds of later Muslim generations — both in theory and practice.

To live peacefully in a multi-cultural and multi-religious societies of the world, global citizens of all religions including Islam need to understand the importance of tolerance and be shown the peaceful and spiritual face of Islam. Maulana is presenting Islam as it is enshrined in its sacred scriptures so that misconceptions about it may be removed and it may be brought before the people in its true form – based on peace and spirituality. During his peace efforts and inter-faith efforts, he removes misconceptions about Islam; undertakes Inter-Faith Dialogue; and addresses individuals to develop spiritually inclined citizens of the world – who can live together peacefully.

The division is further using every liaison opportunities of inter-faith and peace platforms to spread the message of the peaceful face of Islam. Through these platforms, Maulana and the Ambassadors of Peace and Spirituality undertake interactions to reveal the true face of Islam. His programs have commenced telecast on ETV Urdu in India and on ARY Digital in Middle East, Europe, UK and USA.
