For every closed door, there is always another which is open-but only to those who have the eyes to see it, and the courage to march through it.

Spirituality as a philosophy has been sustained and developed by many great thinkers over a period of five thousand years. Some of the greatest of these spiritual philosophers, such as Plato and Aristotle, came from Greece. In our present time also there have been many spiritual philosophers such as Descartes, Bradley, Bergson, etc., in the western world, and Aurobindo, Rajagopalachari and Radhakrishnan in India.
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan believes that spirituality is an elevated state of intellectual awakening. Spirituality is a higher level of consciousness. Our world is a dual world - a world of 'material things', and a world of 'inner meanings'. When one raises oneself to a level where material things become secondary and inner meanings become of prime importance, then one is a spiritual person. He shares that spirituality has great importance for every man and woman. From mental peace to human values, it has many aspects to it. Since spirituality is interwoven in the human personality, it also has a deep relationship with our lives: spirituality and human values are interlinked. If spirituality was absent from our lives, there would be no human values. From the moment one discovers spirituality as supreme truth, the whole of one's life becomes a journey towards spirituality.
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan has developed a full-fledged Ideology of Spirituality, based on 'contemplation' rather than 'meditation'. According to Maulana, the mind is what differentiates man from the rest of the creatures. It is, therefore, the mind that gives man answers to his eternal quest. Maulana shares the spiritual wisdom of the Islamic Scriptures with others from the spiritual tree.
According to Maulana, the spiritual journey is therefore entirely intellectual in nature. Its quest is two fold: one is to solve the riddle as to why all men and women undergo negative experiences in this world; and the other is with regard to finding positive solutions. It addresses the paradox of human beings having been given the freedom to make their choices. But their frequent misuse of this liberty causes them to repeatedly face situations in which people do each other harm; losses are incurred because of the injustice of others; severe provocations are suffered because of untoward experiences. These trigger negative thoughts such as malice, anger, arrogance and greed. But when man raises himself above his immediate surroundings - from the material level to a higher level of thinking - he is able to eradicate his negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones.
From the Spiritual Tree, Maulana thus shares that contemplative spirituality provides human beings with a starting point for their lives by providing the spiritual principles through which to live their lives and helps them in their spiritual quest by explaining the Creation Plan of God.
