The Importance of Dawah Work

The mission of Muslims is dawah or the communication of the Word of God. It is in its performance that they will be held deserving of being raised in the Hereafter as the followers of the Prophet of Islam. This is expressed in the following verse of the Quran:O Messenger, deliver whatever has been sent down to you by your Lord. If you do not do so, you will not have conveyed His message. (THE QURAN 5: 67) Although this verse is addressed to the Prophet Muhammad, his followers are included in it. The first thing that this verse tells us is to convey the divine revelations to the people. This is the task which God wants Muslims to perform.

What Satan desires the most is that dawah work should not happen in this world. Why? Dawah work calls people toward salvation and the divine path. What is dawah work? Dawah work is calling people to God.
The phrase used in the Quran is dawah ilallah. (16:125) That is, calling people to the path of God. People should be called to truth and Paradise. But Satan doesn’t want this. Satan knows that he won't get Paradise, and will go to Hell.
Satan challenged God: "I would lead everyone to Hell. You have deprived me of Paradise. I will deprive everyone else also of Paradise."
How does Satan do this?
He removes Muslims from the path that leads to Paradise. This is the path of dawah ilallah. Today, Muslims are no more engaged in dawah work. People earn money and raise children but not one is interested in dawah. The most certain path to Paradise is to do dawah work. If you don't do dawah ilallah, everything else loses value. The Quran says: Copy Arabic text (5:67)

The Prophet was told to perform dawah by not engaging in any other task. The Prophet is told: If you don’t do dawah, then your position as a prophet will be gone. For God, the Prophet is a prophet as long as he does dawah. How can we have any value if we abandon dawah work? Copy Arabic text O Prophet, do dawah work. Convey to people the message which We have given to you! If you don’t do dawah, then you will not complete your mission. You didn’t fulfil the purpose for which God has sent you in this world. Muslims call themselves ummat-i muhammadi. Their case is the same: if they leave dawah work, then no other task will give them the status of ummat-i muhammadi.
