The real issue is that the spirit of Islam is absent.  If you are lacking in spirit, what will you do? You can only create noise. Due to lack of spirit, Pakistan couldn’t become Pakistan. Due to lack of spirit, nothing could happen in India in spite of the furore. The same is true of the rest of the world. In the entire world, there is great furore but it's all resultless. This is due to absence of spirit. I will give a small example. Once there was a meeting of Islamic scholars in Hyderabad to discuss on madrasa. They wanted to strengthen harmony among Islamic seminaries. But there could be no agreement. Everyone kept on delivering fiery speeches but there was no agreement on any issue. There also I said the same thing. People are lacking in spirit. How can there be results through meetings? First of all, you have to awaken the spirit.

This is a matter of awakening of the intellect. This is not a question of political awakening. The sayings of the Prophet and the Quran teach us that the basis of Islam is reason. The Prophet said: لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ دِعَامَةٌ،  وَدِعَامَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ عَقْلُهُ،  فَبِقَدْرِ عَقْلِهِ تَكُونُ عُبَادَةُ رَبِّهِ (Musnad al-Harith 840) This means that everything is supported by pillars. Everything has a pillar. And the pillar of a believer is reason. A believer worships God in proportion to his reason. This is very natural. A human being possesses a mind.

Psychology is the science of human beings. Science of man is study of the mind. The mind controls every work. The starting point is the mind or reason, and not rallies and meetings. The Prophet said: Everything has a pillar, and the pillar of a believer is aql, or reason. And he will rewarded according to his aql. Aql is another name for intellectual awakening. This is not a question of political awakening. Rather it is about intellectual awakening.
