Is Achieving Happiness the Purpose of this Life?

God has not made the world for joy or happiness. This is not achievable here. God has made this world for test. Where there is test, there will be conditions for test, and not of ease and comfort.

The Prophet once said a prayer: Copy Arabic text "O God, there is no joy except the joy of the Hereafter." (Sahih al-Bukhari 3797)
A life of comfort and happiness is only possible in the Hereafter, not in the present world. The Prophet prayed to God to grant him Paradise, which will have all kinds of peace and comfort. This means that the present world has not been made for comfort.
With every ease, there is hardship here in this world. This is true for all, even a king and an ordinary man. Those who live in slums have problems. Those who have money also have problems. It is said people earn money only to pay bills at hospitals.
The life of comfort earned by money also brings illnesses. Those who eat delicious food develop diabetes, blood pressure, etc. Those who earn also take to drinking, which leads to cancer.
God has not made the world for joy or happiness. This is not achievable here. God has made this world for test. Where there is test, there will be conditions for test, and not of ease and comfort. In the post-death period, we will be able to achieve joy and happiness. In this world one faces illness, accident, death, and other unwanted problems. This is why the Prophet said: "There is no joy except the joy of the Hereafter." The Prophet was speaking of a life of solace and bliss. A life of happiness is possible only in the world Hereafter.
