I was speaking to a person. I said the Quran speaks of blame thyself.  For example, the Quran says: وَلَا تَسُبُّوا الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا اللَّهَ عَدْوًا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ (6:108) This means if you want others to not abuse your elders, then you don’t abuse their elders. If you speak ill of other people's elders, they will speak ill of your elders, of God and the Prophet. The Quran says if you want others to respect your beliefs, you should respect their religion. Then they will respect your Prophet. Don’t speak badly of others. Don't criticize others. Don't abuse them. God gave Muslims the responsibility: Save yourself from others if you want to be safe from them. You should not be harmful for others. Then others won't be harmful for you. The Quran speaks of two battles: Uhud and Hunayn. In both these battles, Muslims suffered many losses. In both these battles, God advised Muslims: 

وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ (9:25) In the battle of Hunayn, you developed pride about your large numbers.

When you developed pride, your defence became weak. You had to incur losses at Hunayn because you developed pride. The moment you had pride, your defence weakened. We need to understand this principle: be it individual life or national life, if you develop pride, your defence will weaken. In life, you have to engage in defence everywhere -- at home, in your neighbourhood and even in society. You have to do so in the city and in national and international life. Be it individual or nation, wherever you develop pride, your defence weakens.

Modesty makes you strong. Pride make you weak. This is the formula. Modesty makes you strong. Pride make you weak. There is no exception to this formula. It is applicable everywhere. If you want to strengthen your defence, you must save yourself from pride and arrogance. Pride and arrogance make you weak. Modesty makes you strong and pride or arrogance make you weak.
