These days a phrase 'passive smoking' is used. In our youth, people would rarely smoke. This culture wasn’t prevalent then. I had never heard the term 'passive smoking' in my youth. Today every person knows about passive smoking. If a person smokes a cigarette, he directly harms his lungs. But the smoke released in the air also reaches me. The smoker indulges in active smoking, and makes me a passive smoker. A person who is an active smoker, makes his neighbour a passive smoker. We have to extend moral values to this case: you don’t have the right to smoke cigarette to fulfil your desire and make others passive smokers. You aren't allowed to do this. Similarly, you have the right to build industry. You have freedom to build an industry. But your industry may cause air pollution and damage the Ozone layer. It may pollute the ocean water. You have to extend moral values here as well.

Here too you have to include moral conduct. You have to bring all these activities under a principle, otherwise speeches on moral values become baseless and meaningless. There would be no meaning to moral values. If your industrial activities fill the air with carbon dioxide, if your cigarette smoking makes people passive smokers, if your ships pollute the ocean water, then where are moral values? The concept of moral values turns into poetry. Moral values will have no meaning. Moral values are linked to many activities. When these other activities are not brought under discipline or under control, speaking of moral values is mere poetry or romantic idea. It isn't anything more than this.
