A true believer is not harmful to his neighbours, doesn’t create problems for him and doesn’t harm him. The same is true of electronic neighbours or global neighbours. The concept of neighbourhood has changed today. The entire earth is your neighbourhood. All the people residing on the planet are your neighbours. You shouldn’t create trouble for anyone nor create problems for them. This is the Islamic teaching.
According to a hadith: وَاللَّهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ، وَاللَّهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ، وَاللَّهِ لاَ يُؤْمِنُ الَّذِي لاَ يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَايِقَهُ (Sahih al-Bukhari 6016)By God he is not a believer, By God he is not a believer, By God he is not a believer from whose nuisance his neighbour is not safe. If you create problems for your neighbour, you are not a believer. We are living in an electronic age.
Now the concept of neighbourhood has changed. Some are your local neighbours, others are your electronic neighbours. In this age, you can sit at one place and wage a war far away. With a remote control, you can make someone a victim of your bomb attack even if he is far away from you.
This hadith tells us that if my local neighbours or my electronic neighbours are troubled because of me, or if I am creating evil for them, then I am not a believer. By God he is not a believer, By God he is not a believer, By God he is not a believer! If you apply this hadith today, you will realize it is your duty to save your neighbour from any harm created by you.
