Surely, for men and women who have surrendered [to God]— believing men and believing women, obedient men and obedient women, truthful men and truthful women, patient men and patient women, humble men and humble women, charitable men and charitable women, fasting men and fasting women, men and women who guard their chastity, men and women who are ever mindful of God—God is ready with forgiveness and an immense reward. (33: 35) This verse shows what Almighty God wishes a man or woman to be and the ten virtues He would like them to possess are: Islam (submission to God), Faith in God, obedience, truthfulness, patience, sincerity, charity, fasting, chastity and remembrance of God.
Worship begins with discovery of God. First comes discovery of God and then worship follows. Marifat means realization of God.
The entire universe is in a state of submission, which humans also have to do. Then what is the difference between the universe and human beings?
The case of humans is that they submit after conscious realization of God, while the rest of the universe submits without conscious realization of God.
The religion and culture of the entire universe is based on submission, or submission to God. This means to surrender before the Creator, follow the path of the Creator and adopt the guidelines of the Creator. The entire universe is following this pattern.
For example, the rose plant will bear rose flowers and nothing else. An apple tree would not bear rose flowers, it would only bear apples. The universe functions according to the order or command given by God. But humans work according to their choice or freedom. A human being first thinks, makes a discovery of God or the Creator, he realizes God, a storm overwhelms him and a revolution occurs in his being. After all this, he takes the decision to live in the world in a state of submission to God.
