The Truth about Conspiracies

The issue is not that someone is engaged in conspiracy. Conspirators will forever remain engaged in conspiracy. The fact is that conspiracies are a part of nature. Therefore, the issue is not whether or not conspiracy exists. One can always save oneself from conspiracy if one inculcates in oneself patience and fear of God.

There is a verse in the Quran which says: "If you are patient and fear God, their designs will never harm you in the least." (3:12). In this verse the word 'kayd' means conspiracy, or plotting. This verse tells us that if you have two qualities, patience and fear of God, then others' conspiracies shall not harm you in the least. I will reiterate, others' conspiracies will not harm you at all.

What does one learn from this? The real problem is lack of patience and God-consciousness, while the existence of conspiracies is not a problem. In other words, the presence of conspiracies is not a problem, but if Muslims do not possess patience and fear of God, then that is a matter of concern.  So the above verse of the Quran tells us something very important. Whenever you feel that someone is engaged in conspiracy against you, or is creating problems for you, you should immediately try to find out whether you are lacking in patience or God-consciousness. People generally try to find an external cause for the problem, although the reason is within. There is no other meaning of this verse. That is, the basic issue is that a person lacks patience and God-consciousness; he becomes devoid of these two qualities.

There is no greater argument than this. I believe that the main issue is that people do not take the Quran as their guidebook. If you reflect, only then can you receive guidance from this verse, otherwise you will not be able to derive counsel from the Quran.
