A LESSON FROM NATURE
Teak is a type of timber used in construction. The largest producer of teak is Burma, followed by India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. In India, it has been used for about two thousand years.
The most important quality of teak, according to an expert, is its extraordinary durability. Even in buildings thousands of years old, beams made of teak are found to be in excellent condition. In ancient times, ships, bridges, and other structures were often constructed from this wood.
The reason teak lasts so long is that, unlike ordinary wood, it is not attacked by termites. Termites destroy wood, but teak is free of this threat, so its durability is unmatched.
What protects teak from termites? The answer is simple: teak contains a bitter taste that termites dislike. Since termites feed on wood but do not like the taste of teak, they leave it alone. This shows us nature’s method. To protect teak from termites, nature did not give it noise or protest. Instead, it gave teak an inner quality that naturally keeps termites away.
Just as termites are the enemy of wood in this world, people also have enemies among themselves. So, what should a person do to protect themselves from these enemies? They must develop a positive quality within themselves that naturally causes their enemies to stay away. The enemy should, on their own, refrain from taking any action against them.
