11. The Basis of Healthy Relationships
The Quran teaches: “Do not covet the bounties which God has bestowed more abundantly on some of you than on others. Men shall be rewarded according to their deeds, and women shall be rewarded according to their deeds. You should rather ask God for His bounty. God has knowledge of all things.” (Quran, 4:32)
Men and women differ in many important ways. Some possess greater physical or mental abilities, while others are born into favourable circumstances, and still others face challenges. Some enjoy abundant resources, while others have little.
When either a man or a woman observes someone more privileged, feelings of envy may arise, potentially leading to jealousy, rivalry, and social conflict. Measuring oneself or others based on such differences reflects a lack of understanding. These distinctions are worldly—granted in this life and ending with it. What truly matters for both men and women is success in the Hereafter, which is not influenced by worldly advantages. Success in the Hereafter depends on the actions that a man or woman performs according to their own choice and with full intention.
