A Source of Peace, Not a Source of Pleasure
According to the creation plan of God, woman has been created as a source of peace and tranquillity for man, not merely as a source of pleasure. This is stated in the Quran as follows:
“One of His signs is that He created for you from among yourselves spouses, so that you might find repose in them, and He created between you affection and kindness. Truly there are signs in this for people who reflect.” (Quran, 30:21)
According to this divine plan, woman has been created to bring peace, warmth, and balance to the journey of life. This aspect is equally important for both men and women. If both keep this reality in mind, they will be able to face life’s challenges with balance and continue their journey successfully.
However, in the present age, this natural principle has been reversed. Men often regard women merely as sources of entertainment. As a result, the very purpose of life has been distorted. Woman is unable to fulfill the role assigned to her by nature; instead, she becomes increasingly preoccupied with making herself attractive in ways that were never part of the original plan. This unnatural situation has disrupted every aspect of life.
Consequently, the modern woman’s primary concern is no longer the fulfillment of her natural responsibilities, but the enhancement of her appearance. Beautification has become an obsession. Many women spend considerable time unnecessarily on artificial physical enhancement. This obsession has led them towards semi-nudity, one consequence of which is pornography.
Among the troubling expressions of this obsession is cosmetic surgery—that is, the artificial alteration of one’s face through surgical procedures. In reality, this method of beautification is costly and has created new issues, causing unnecessary complications in the lives of many women.
If, in accordance with nature’s plan, man and woman regard one another as a source of peace, their lives can resemble Paradise. But when they view each other merely as a means of pleasure, both fall into a state of restlessness. This has contributed to the widespread problem known in modern times as depression.
Deviation from the natural order has led human beings into these hardships. Only a return to nature can save them from such problems. There is no other solution to this crisis.
